Applied Radar, Inc.  is the R&D engine of Quonset Technology and Quonset Microwave.  Founded in 1994 by Dr. William H. Weedon, Applied Radar performs research and development (R&D) of electronic and communication systems for defense and commercial applications. It is funded primarily through US Department of Defense (DoD) research contracts including Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR), private sector funding, and internal funding. The products developed by Applied Radar are often commercialized by Quonset Technology companies including Quonset Microwave. Commercialization requires a different mentality and a different way of doing business than is typically done in a R&D company, hence the reason for handing off products to a separate company, Quonset Technology, to commercialize.
